Put two cups of water in the instant pot. Place the trivet (raised steam rack).
Place the ube into the round pan. Make sure the round pan fits in your instant pot. Cover the pan with aluminum foil. Place the pan on top of the trivet.
Turn the instant pot on, select the manual setting to pressure cook, adjust the time to 8 minutes, then start. First, make sure the sealing lever is on.
Allow a 10-minute natural release before taking the pan out from the instant pot.
Remove the pan using a couple of tongs or heat-resistant gloves.
For Steaming:
Prepare the steamer and add an adequate amount of water. Turn the stove on and bring water to a boil.
Place the ube in the round pan and cover with aluminum foil.
Place the pan on the steamer and let it steam for 15-20 minutes.
Remove the pan from the steamer.
Notes
If using a whole fresh ube, peel the ube, cut into cubes, boil until they are tender, and then mash if needed.
