    This 3-ingredient mango compote recipe is a sweet dessert and can be used as a topping for ice cream or any dessert. You can also serve this at breakfast with your toast.

    Ingredients Notes and Substitutions

    Mango - You will need fresh ripe mango for this recipe. You can also use frozen mango as a substitute, but you will have to thaw it first. Next, you need to peel the mangoes. Then, finally, you can slice, chop or dice them. 

    Lemon juice - You can substitute fresh lemon juice with lime juice or calamansi juice.

    Sugar -  You can substitute this with honey for a healthier option. 

    How to make this recipe

    Step 1: Combine all the ingredients, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes.

    Step 2: In a pan over medium heat, add the mangoes.

    Step 3: Simmer for 8-10 minutes.

    How and what to serve

    This dessert can be served warm or chilled. 

    As a topping for:

    • Cake
    • Cheesecake 
    • Ice cream
    • French toast
    • Pancakes 
    • Waffles 
    • Yogurt 

    Freezing and Storing Instructions

    You may store this in the fridge in an airtight container for 5 days. 

    Variations 

    You can add spices like cinnamon, cloves, lemon zest, and orange zest.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups peeled and chopped ripe mango
    • ½ cup white sugar
    • 1-2 teaspoons lemon juice
