This Apple Maraschino Salad has only four ingredients. It has a crunchy texture, slightly sweet, and creamy flavor. It can be served as a salad or as a dessert.
The first time I tried this salad was from my mother in law. My husband and I were visiting them at the time, and she was making this salad. I didn’t know what she was making so I just watch her. I made notes of the ingredients she put into it.
We had this as a dessert, and when I tried it, I really enjoyed it. When we went home, I tried to recreate it. It took a few tries until fortunately, I was able to get the right balance that I like. Making this salad is enjoyable because it is quick and easy. It is something that you can serve and enjoy right away or you can make it ahead before serving.
Ingredients
Apples – You can use any kind of apples for this recipe. The apples don’t have to be peeled (unless you prefer to peel it), cored, and then chopped into small pieces.
Celery – The celery is chopped into small pieces. I usually cut the celery in half lengthwise before I chopped it. The celery gives this recipe that crunchiness which I love.
Red maraschino cherries – The cherries are quarter-sliced or cut in halves. I personally quarter-sliced when I make them. The cherries give the salad that slightly sweet flavor, and the red color gives the salad that appealing look.
Mayonnaise – It adds that creamy flavor of the salad.
