Easy to make sauce. The sourness is so subtle, and the sweetness is mild. This Filipino Sweet and Sour Sauce are one of my favorite dipping sauces.

    Recipe Ingredients

    • Vinegar
    • Water
    • White sugar
    • Salt
    • Oyster sauce
    • Ketchup
    • Cornstarch

What Kind of Vinegar to Use?

I recommend using white vinegar for this recipe. Although other types of vinegar like red wine vinegar will work as well.

    How to Make the Sauce

    1. Combine vinegar, ¾ cup of water, sugar, salt, oyster sauce, and ketchup in a saucepan. Bring to boil.
    2. While the vinegar mixture is boiling, dissolve cornstarch into ¼ cup of water.
    3. Stir in the cornstarch mixture into the vinegar mixture until it thickens around 2-3 minutes.
    4. Serve and enjoy.

    How to Store

This sauce can be stored in an airtight container and will last a week in the refrigerator.

    What to serve with

This sweet and sour sauce goes well with a lot of dishes like fried chicken, fried prawns, barbecue, or chicken wings. For any kind of dish that requires dipping, this sauce is all you need.
